The birth of the Buddha
The birth of the
historical Buddha, take place in Lumbini on border of present day
Nepal, Buddha was born in royal Hindu family, from his father the
king Suddhodana and his mother the queen Maha Maya.
On the night the Buddha
was conceived the queen Maya dreamt that a white elephant entered her
right side and ten months later Siddhartha was born.
As was the Shakya tradition when his mother queen Maya became pregnant, she left Kalipvastu for her father's kingdom to give birth, on the way at Lumbini in the garden beneath a sal tree her son was born.

In India the tradition
say “ the Buddha was born in full moon day”, seven day later
Buddha's mother died, the infant was given the name of Siddhartha
meaning “he who achieves his aim” during the birth celebrations,
the hermit Asita journeyed from his mountain abode and announced that
the child would either become a great king or a great holy man.
